Anna M. Skaggs

Senior Paralegal

Anna M. Skaggs attorney photo

Biography

Based in the Firm’s Dilworth office in Charlotte, North Carolina, Anna supports Attorney Patti A. Tutone and provides cross-team support wherever needed. In 2025, she was promoted to Senior Paralegal in recognition of her outstanding professionalism, dedication to client care, and decades of experience. Known for her reliability and attention to detail, Anna is deeply involved in all aspects of her cases—from the first consultation to final resolution—and plays an integral role in the litigation support process.

Anna brings over 30 years of paralegal experience to her role, with a proven ability to build strong working relationships with clients, court staff, opposing counsel, and other legal professionals. Her responsibilities include managing deadlines and attorney calendars; preparing documents for mediation, hearings, and trial; organizing case files; and supporting firm-wide process improvements. Anna serves as a resource and mentor to junior team members and is known for her calm, capable approach—even during the busiest litigation seasons.

Originally from West Virginia, Anna earned her Associate of Applied Science degree in Legal Assistant/Paralegal Studies from Marshall University’s ABA-approved program. She began her career at age 19 and has worked across a wide range of practice areas, including personal injury, predatory lending, medical malpractice, workers’ compensation, criminal defense, estate planning, and bankruptcy. Since relocating to North Carolina in 2010, Anna has focused exclusively on family law. She earned her national certification through NALA in 2006 and became a North Carolina Certified Paralegal in 2016.

Anna was featured in the North Carolina Bar Association’s Paralegal Spotlight in February 2023, where she reflected on her three-decade career, the importance of strong mentorship, and her passion for family law. Her story highlighted not only her professional growth, but also her commitment to staying curious, supporting her team, and never losing her sense of humor.

Outside of work, Anna is a proud mom, marching band volunteer, team parent/support for travel volleyball, and college football fan. She enjoys spending time with her family, listening to music, exploring the outdoors, and reading true crime and professional development books. Known for her sarcasm and work ethic in equal measure, Anna believes in showing up with consistency, staying teachable, and helping others feel supported—whether they’re colleagues, clients, or kids at home.

I believe in keeping things simple but significant and always being in service to others. I strive daily to reflect those beliefs, both in my parenting and when helping clients navigate the complexities of their family changes.
