Rebecca graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1998 and began practicing law that year. Rebecca is an accomplished trial and appellate attorney who brings over 25 years of experience. She is based in our Monroe, North Carolina, office.

Collins Family & Elder Law Group Senior Counsel Kathryn Cook DeAngelo is a North Carolina Super Lawyer for 2023! Kathryn joined the firm in 2021 as Senior Counsel to the Collins Elder Law practice division. Kathryn graduated from Marshall University, Huntington, WV, in 1968 with a B.A. in Business Education. She also has an M.Ed. from the University of Maryland, College Park, MD. In 1984 Kathryn graduated magna cum laude from North Carolina Central University Law School (NCCU Law}, Durham, NC. In 1990, Kathryn established her own solo law firm in Surfside Beach, SC. After 34 years of law practice in South Carolina, Kathryn closed her law offices and moved to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Collins Family & Elder Law Group Managing Attorney Christine Houston is a North Carolina Rising Star for 2023 and was named for 2022! After graduating from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology and a minor in Women’s Studies, she attended Charlotte School of Law, where she graduated with honors. Christine’s practice area is specialized to focus on family law and domestic violence. Christine is based in our Dilworth office in Charlotte, North Carolina.

She then went to Elon University School of Law, receiving her Juris Doctorate in 2019. Alexa focuses on Family Law and splits her time between our Dilworth and Monroe, North Carolina offices.

Shayna Matheny

Collins Family & Elder Law Group Attorney Shayna Matheny is a North Carolina Rising Star for 2023! Shayna received her undergraduate degree from the California University of Pennsylvania, with a major in Jurisprudence and concentration in Legal Studies. She then attended North Carolina Central University School of Law, receiving her Juris Doctorate in 2021, as valedictorian of her class. Shayna focuses on Family Law in our Monroe, North Carolina office, serving clients in Union and Gaston Counties.
