Bio
Spencer E. Schold is based in the firm’s Monroe, NC office and primarily focuses her practice in Union and Cabarrus counties. She earned her undergraduate degree with honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. Spencer is a Charlotte native. She has lived in four states and has called North Carolina home for more than twenty years.
Experience and Scope of Practice
While in law school, Spencer competed on Georgia Law’s nationally-ranked Moot Court and Mock Trial teams and was a finalist in multiple tournaments. Importantly, she also began her interest in family law during that time through work in her law school’s Family Violence Clinic where she obtained protective orders for victims of domestic violence. She was also an editor for Georgia Law’s Journal of Intellectual Property Law and served as the Community Outreach Director for the Public Interest Law Council.
A passionate advocate for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, Spencer has worked as a staff attorney with Legal Aid of NC, a state prosecutor as Assistant District Attorney, and with multiple non-profit domestic violence agencies. She also has a background in private practice at family law firms in Raleigh and Charlotte. Her current practice focuses on representing clients in all areas of family law including child custody, child support, equitable distribution, alimony, absolute divorce, separation agreements, prenuptial agreements, domestic violence protective orders, enforcement of court orders, and grandparent rights.
Personal Philosophy
Spencer is both an empathetic and tough advocate for her clients. She believes in empowering clients throughout the different phases of their cases by informing them of the law, their options, and recommending case strategies based on client priorities. Her passion for her clients’ rights is evident in her unwavering presence in the courtroom.

"Ms. Collins was very helpful during my custody hearing. It was not about the money for her; instead, it was about doing what was right for my child and me."
She was fair, open, and honest. She informed me of my rights as well as the rights of my ex-husband. She was not out for blood, but just out for what my child and I were entitled to.
